"Portal Perfection"

Yahtzee tells it like it is.

You know. I like Portal, I enjoyed it, I thought it was way too short....

Agree. It's such a great game that it's a fucking tragedy it's over so soon. One of those games you want to go on forever. Hoping the next one has at least 100 levels/challenges. I highly recommend Echochrome for anyone who's seen it all in Portal and is still thirsting for similar puzzle action.

Top 10 Most Difficult Games
TMNT was hard because it was horridly designed. Yep, Ikaruga was on the DC first, not surprised GT missed that. DMC3? Shinobi on the PS2? Don't these games have to qualify as being good, too? In that case, Dragon's Lair for the NES is the hardest game ever! F-Zero GX was a pleasant surprise, as far as racing games go, I agree. Ghosts'n'Goblins is the name of the series. Ghouls followed later, not a series. Ninja Gaiden, nuff said. Surprised there was no Contra 4, it is 2d-schmup bliss (Contra/Super C are unlockables!) with a difficulty so manly you have to shave after playing. Though this looks like an older GT countdown, based on the look.

I'm not Pro-Pot, I'm Anti-Ridiculous
>> ^Aniatario:
Your average joe is going to be less inclined to experiment with anything when it is illegal to do so.

Less inclined, I don't know. One could argue that it's inaccessibility increases it's desirability, that people want things more when they can't/are not supposed to have them. Less able, yes.

Screw this guy. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go smoke a cigarette and have a glass of wine.

Secret Seats on Airplanes
LOL at the guy peeking around the pillar right at the end. "He knows the secret. We must now engage in mortal seat-cushion combat at the arena of secret coach, 68k..."

*Cue Amok Time fight scene music mid-flight during a turbulent thunderstorm*

Top 20-11 Genesis Games
ScrewAttack was acquired only recently by GT and they've been striving to remain a somewhat "separate" entity, made worse by the whole Handsome Tom controversy. There's shadowy rumors of them parting ways due to GT playing the part of the jealously psychotic, controlling ex-girlfriend who fervently believes she can "change" you. I concur that the two don't seem to mesh well...there's a world of difference between ScrewAttack and GT's slightly more MTV-ish content.

10-1 should be interesting as the consensus between Genesis gamers seems far more varied, individual than the all-around, generally agreed upon roster for the SNES.

Pornography Myths (Femme Talk Post)
Slight problem... gay/lesbian porn. Do they warrant the official badge of universal objectification? It seems the greater issue in your mind is with something else and not pornography. Shades of grey abound.

"1.21 GIGAWATTS?!?!?!?"
>> ^videosiftbannedme:
I always loved the way Doc Brown continued with the conversation after Marty called the DeLorean a "sucker":

"Whoa, Doc! Are you saying this sucker is NUCLEAR?!?"
"No, no, this sucker's electrical! But I need a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity that powers the flux capacitor."

Just makes me laugh that he's so into what he's talking about, he just adopts Marty's vocabulary. Great writing and acting right there.

My favorite line from this movie is, "There's that word again; "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?" The genuinely interested way he asks, gets me everytime.

NYPD Ravages Cyclist in Time Square
After reading the discussion here, I came across this from the Know Your Rights Manual for New York City Messengers and Cyclists:

"What’s the Law?
Many cops don’t even know the law. How many times were you pulled over for
something that you swore that the cop made up? Know the law, and you will
have power. This information is from Transportation Alternatives/

Rights and Responsibilities
You must obey traffic laws. Every bicyclist and in-line skater has the same
rights and is subject to the same duties as a driver of a vehicle, with certain
exceptions. (NYS 1231)

Where to Ride
Ride in the bike lane if provided, except for safety, turns, etc. (NYC 4-12, p)
On a wide one-way roadway, ride on either side. (NYC 4-12, p)
Ride on the right side of the roadway, with above exceptions. (NYS 1234)
Where Not to Ride
Don’t ride on the sidewalk unless you are twelve years old or younger. (NYC 4-
07, c)
If you ride on the sidewalk, your bike can be confiscated. (NYC Admin Code
19-176)
Don’t ride on expressways, highways, interstates or thruways unless authorized
by signs. (NYC 4-12, o)

How to Ride - How Not to Ride
Don’t hitch your bike or cling to any other vehicle on the roadway. (No skitching.)
(NYS 1233)
Don’t ride more than two abreast. Ride single file when being passed. (NYS
1234)
Use hand and arm signals to indicate turns and stops. (NYS 1237)
If you’re carrying packages, keep at least one hand on handlebar. (NYS 1235)
Don’t ride friends on the handlebars or seat. Carry only the number of persons
for which your bike is designed. (NYS 1232)
Ride with your feet on the pedals. (NYS 1232)"

For the record, I agree that the use of force here was excessive and unlawful and just plain disgusting. So onto the legalities! I can't see how biking en masse in this manner, especially on what appears to be a multiple lane one-way road, is technically legal due to the above. Can someone also explain how this falls under freedom of assembly? Disrupting traffic and ignoring cyclist laws, possibly causing collisions with other drivers and or/other pedestrians, somewhat negates the "whole assemble peaceably and in an orderly manner" under which any other protest would have to abide by. If I'm misinformed in my attempt at ascertaining the situation on a subject I have literally zero experience but am interested in, please inform me. In no way am I defending Captain McClusky's actions.

The issue has got me thinking about my own state's laws on cycling. Should I ever need to know.

Holy Smokes Tr2n is coming (Blog Entry by dag)
I'm also too young to have any sort of nostalgic attachment to this movie. If Pixar is really involved this could be on a level the original was at the time of it's release. The game (Tron 2.0) by Monolith was fantastic though. Armagetron is also good, clean, multiplayer, light-cycling fun and will run on a calculator...also has some interesting acceleration mechanics and advanced maneuvers, aside from being a tiny free download. Nothing like a cutthroat, 8-person, light-cycle free-for-all.
